In November 1949 a group of parents met in the School Hall to consider the possibility of running a canteen for the children – to provide clean and wholesome food prepared under hygienic conditions and sold at reasonable rates  
   
On 4th May 1950, a red-letter day in the history of St. Xavier’s High School, for on that day was born the Student Parent Association of St. Xavier’s, known today as St. Xavier’s High School Parent Teacher Association.  Soon it broadened its aims to arrange for greater social contact between parents, staff and students

Teachers’ Day On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2005, the PTA Managing Committee felicitated the teachers at a luncheon held at Starters and More, sponsored by the PTA. It was wonderful to see the teachers unwind completely and participate in the games and other activities. The teachers were then presented with a Token of Love envelope on behalf of the Parent Teacher Association.

 
   

Medical Camp The Managing Committee of the PTA held an Ophthalmic Check Up in the months of December 2005 and January 2006 in the school for the students of Std. I, III, V & VII. A token charge of Rs. 5/- was collected from the students with the objective of generating greater commitment from the parents and students undergoing the medical check-up. Students found to have some problem were referred for further investigation and treatment.  They were then advised to consult the eye specialists of their choice. The team of doctors under the leadership of Dr. (Mrs) Bijal Mehta, Bombay City Eye Institute, Charitable Trust, Babulnath conducted the ophthalmic check up.  They were supported with a "Mobile Eye Clinic".

 
   

PTA Social The PTA Social was held on 9th December 2005.  Parents who attended were happy to interact with other parents and members of the staff.  All those who attended the function had an enjoyable time.

 
   

Workers’ Day This year due to the death of one of our Class IV workers, Mr. Anant Parshuram the Worker’ Day celebration was not held.  The workers were presented with a token of appreciation.

 
   

Sports Coaching This year the accolades won by our boys on the sports fields has proved that the Jesuit ideal of overall development of the child is our true pursuit.  The PTA is proud to be involved with the sports coaching facilities.

 
   
Scholarships and Prizes  
   
Fr. Fritz Prize for a needy cricketer who plays for the Giles and Harris Shields Tournaments  
Fr. Arthur D'Mello Prize for a student in Std. X securing the highest marks in Character Formation, English & Social Studies  
Fr. Lancy Rodrigues Prize to a deserving student and a deserving talented teacher  
Fr. Miranda PTA Scholarship for a student in Std. IX passing in all subjects and securing between 35% - 45%  
PTA prizes for Art and Craft for Stds I - IV
  Silver Medal and Ripon Medal given annually to a Catholic and non-Catholic student respectively for standing first at the S.S.C. Examination in the school
  The PTA Golden Jubilee Award disbursed annually to six students – one catholic and one non-catholic student from the primary (Stds. I – IV), middle school (Stds. V – VII) and secondary (Stds. VIII – X) section who is socially aware and sensitive to the needs of others and lives up to the Jesuit ideals of all-round education
  The Fr. Gomes Deserving Boys Welfare Fund - an amount of Rs.1,650/= is disbursed to four deserving and needy students
  The PTA Golden Jubilee Award to be disbursed annually to six students – one Catholic and one non-Catholic student from the primary (Stds. I – IV), middle school (Stds. V – VII) and secondary (Stds. VIII – X) section.  These prizes will be awarded to a student who is socially aware and sensitive to the needs of others and lives up to the Jesuit ideal of all-round education.  These prizes will be presented at every Annual Day

The members of the Managing Committee wish to thank the Principal, Fr. Baptist Pinto, S. J., Primary Head Teacher, Mrs. Fatima Monteiro, the Vice-Principal, Ms. Renee Carvalho, Secondary Supervisor, Mrs. Marietta Pinto members of the Staff - Teaching and Non-teaching, the School Management, Parents and Class IV Workers for their continuous interest, active support and guidance in making all activities of the PTA a grand success, during the course of the Academic Year 2005 - 2006.

 
  The past year has seen increased involvement on the part of parents who have come regularly to the school and participated in PTA activities.  We are grateful to you dear parents for your constant support and encouragement. After all this is your organization, a forum of interaction between teachers and parents and between parents themselves.  If we combine our strengths we shall go a long way in contributing to the overall development and growth of our children in this great institution
