SPORTSMAN’S OATH

 

We promise that we will take part in this annual athletic meet of St. Xavier’s High School in loyal competition, respecting the regulations which govern them and desirous of participating in them in the true spirit of sportsmanship for the honor of our school and country and the glory of sport.

 

 

 
 
 
   
ANNUAL SPORT REPORT 2004-2005  
   
St. Xavier’s created history this year by winning 16 trophies in SPORTS !!!  
   
Winning is the tradition of St. Xavier’s High School, Fort.  The school continues to produce great results with dynamic performances in athletics, football, carrom, table-tennis, swimming at various tournaments.  At the MSSA Inter School Athletic Meet.  This year once again our school won the prestigious
   
The Tata Challenge Shield for the school with the highest aggregate total points scored jointly in all Divisions for Boys  
   
Hosey A. Mistry Memorial Trophy for the school with the highest aggregate total points scored in the Senior Divisions for Boys  
   
The A.R.M. Sidiki Memorial Challenge Shield for the school with the highest aggregate total points scored in the Intermediate Division for Boys  
   
The Ahmed Sailor Challenge Shield for the school with the highest aggregate total points scored jointly in the Junior, Sub-Juniors and Midgets Division for Boys  
   
D. R. Kate Memorial Trophy to the Winner of the 400M Run Boys Inters  
   
Merwyn Jacobie Memorial Trophy to the winner of the 800M Run for the Boys Inters (Under – 14 Years)  
   
The Gainchand R. Bahl March Past Trophy for the team adjudged the best Boys Team in the March Past during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Championships  
   
Late D. B. Puthran Trophy for Individual Champion for Intermediates Boys  
   
Our athletes assured victories and won five Team Championships in the following meets
   
Mumbai City Meet  
MSSA SBI Inter-School Meet  
YMCA Meet  
Catholic Gymkhana Meet  
Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Meet  
   
The following won Individual Championships  
   
Nand Nalawde at the Mumbai City Meet  
   
Rahul Chikle at the Catholic Gymkhana Meet  
   
Yash Mhambrey at the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Meet and at the Catholic Gymkhana Meet he won the Best Athlete award  
   
Sagar Sorathi won the best athlete award as well as individual championships at the Willingdon Catholic Meet, Catholic Gymkhana Meet and MSSA Meet  
   

The following boys were selected to represent Mumbai City for the Junior and Sub-Junior State Meet to be held at Pune.

Sagar Sorathi, Nirmal Kabre, Nishant Kole, Krishna Dussera, Niraj Shah, Sanat Shah, Yash Mhambrey, Devesh Poojari, Shubham Samel, Harsh Vyas, Nand Nalawde and Vedant Jathar.  Mr. Alex Fernandes our Sports Director was asked to accompany the team as the Coach of the Mumbai City team assisted by Mr. Peter Pereira as the Manager

   

Outstanding performances were made by the following boys :-

Faisal Sable,  Tejas Kamath,  Rahul Naidu,  Sagar Sorathi,  Krishna Duserra,  Shubham Samel, Yash Mhambrey, Meet Sampat, Darshit Thakkar, Nand Nalawde, Rahul Chikle, Yugshresth Jain, Harsh Vyas

 
   
This year our athletes in the under-6 age group created history at the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana Meet.  Out of the 12 athletes from our school, eight of them made it to the finals of the 100 metres race among the 64 competitors.  
   
Our School won many medals and certificates and the Over-all Championships in various meets  
   
137th Annual sports was held on December 7th, 2005 at the University Stadium, Marine Lines.  Our Chief Guest was our Ex-Xavierite – Mr. Adrian de Souza  
   
Our individual Champions were  
   
Std I                    -        Amay Nijsure  
Midget                 -        Nand Nalawde  
Sub-Junior          -        Yash Mhambre  
Junior                  -        Durgesh Tiwari  
Inters                   -        Sagar Sorathi  
Seniors               -        Faisal Sable  
   
The Best Athlete of the Meet was Sagar Sorathi and the most promising athlete was Faisal Sable  
   
The Inter House March Past was won by Tilak House and Tug-O-War was won by Nehru House and the over-all Championship was won by Tagore House  
   
FOOTBALL  
   
At the Inter-School District Tournament the Under-14 team won the 1st place (winner) and 2nd place at the District level Subroto Mukherjee Tournament.  At the A and B Ward level the Under-14 won the 1st place (winner)  
   
At the MSSA Inter-school league tournament the under-14 were winners beating Don Bosco (Matunga) and in the Utpal Sanghvi Tournament they beat St. Francis D’Assisi to win the title.  Once again this year our footballers too, creating history beating St. Francis D’Assisi School, (Borivli) at three occasions  
Under – 14: Performed well winning four tournaments out of the five  
   
Under-12 : Won most of the matches and remained unbeaten  
   
Under-10 : Won all the matches and remained unbeaten  
   
Under-8 ; Won all the league matches and lost in the second round of the knock-out stage  
   
With the outstanding performance of the team, seven of our boys were called for the MSSA camp as well as for the Mahindra United Junior Team selection out of which two of boys namely Sagar Sorathi and Gallaghar made it to the last 25 players in the final phase

Under – 12 : Lawrence Betgeri, Ludovic Pereira
Under – 14 : Sagar Sorathi, Samrat Golhar, Benson Fernandes
Under – 16 : Rahul Naidu, Rahul Tiwari, Egypsio Noronha
VOLLEYBALL
At the MSSA tournament,  our under – 14 team lost in the quarterfinal
BASKETBALL
In the mini tournament our team entered the quarterfinal.
CARROM
In the MSSA tournament, two of our boys won the silver and bronze medal in the under-16 age group
TABLE TENNIS
Pratik Pallicha made it to the fourth round of the Inter School tournament
SWIMMING
Dhruv Thakker of the Under-17 age group has won many medals in the following events
DSO MEET (DISTRICT)
Gold Medal in 800 Meters freestyle
Gold Medal in 50 Meters freestyle
Silver Medal in 200 Meters freestyle
Inter School DSO Meet
Silver Medal in 800 meters freestyle
Bronze Medal in 400 meters freestyle
A regular highlight at St. Xavier’s is the Summer Coaching Camp which attracts students not only of our school but also from other schools.  Training is provided by professionals in the following sports :  FOOTBALL, CRICKET, ATHLETICS, BASKETBALL AND BADMINTON

Sportsman of the year : Faisal Sable
I would like to thank the Management, the teaching and non – teaching staff, the Class IV workers, the PTA, various coaches – Loyala Lobo, Peter Pereira, Cajetan Noronha, Derrick D’Souza, Mansoor Shaikh, Anil Takle, Abdulla Sapatwala and ex-students for  their help, support and co-operation
