Eco-Consumer Club  
     
 

The Eco – Consumer Club 2005 – 2006 had fifty members and was headed by Ms. Sharmila Sunny, Mr. Neil Noronha and Ms. Lovina Silvera.  Master Himanshu Rughani and Master Aftab Memom of Std VIII – A were the joint secretaries of the club.  The following are the activities conducted by the club.

 
     
  A badge designed by the members exhibiting an eco-friendly message was distributed to the members  
     
  On 26th November, 2005 the members visited Nehru Science Centre for a talk on Vermiculture, Waste Management and Fisheries.  
     
  There was a filming of the Oscar Winning documentary on 22nd December, 2006.  the film entitled, “The March of the Penguins” depicted the harsh weather conditions in the Polar regions and the survival techniques of the Penguins  
     
  On 23rd January, 2006 the students again visited the Nehru Science Centre for a film festival on eco-consumer related topics  
     
  As per the circular of the Education department dated 18.01.2006, an Art and Essay Competition was held on 24th January, 2006.  Two best entries in each category were sent for Inter-school competitions and the rest were displayed on the Eco – Consumer Club notice board  
     
  The members also conducted the ‘Save our stripes scroll Campaign’ whereby the signatures of the students of the school were taken as a mark of support to the ‘save our tiger’ Campaign.  The Scroll was sent to the concerned authorities to be presented to the Honourable Prime Minister  
     
  Mr. Gajanan Patil, an official of the ‘Consumer Rights Society’ gave a talk on 17th February, 2006.  He gave a demonstration on Food Adulteration, fake weights and measures and misleading advertisements  
     
  On 21st February, 2006, the club members visited ‘The Little Flowers of Jesus High School’ for an exhibition on, 'art from Waste’  
     
  The member also collected information and prepared charts on Eco-consumer related topics which was displayed on the notice board during the year  

Education is not received. It is achieved.
