Nature Club Report (Primary)

Under the able guidance of our Nature Club teachers Ms. Lydia Vaz and Ms. Genevieve Ribeiro we learn more about plants and animals. Games, dumb charades, nature walks, quizzes, newspaper articles, role plays teach us to care for nature and the uniqueness of God’s creatures.  We have great fun in the Nature Club too.

Tiger, Tiger ………..burning bright.

One of our nature club ventures took us to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali. Accompanied by our Primay Head teacher Mrs. Fatima Monteiro, Ms. Lydia Vaz and Ms. Genevieve Ribeiro.

We went on a lion and tiger safari, where we saw a white tiger and a lioness.  We also saw the bones of a deer.  A thrilling experience indeed.

Accompanied by NIC co-ordinators, we trekked the silicon trail, where we saw evidences of silicon a man – made water hole, a machi and a natural pond used by the forest officers for counting the census of animals present in the area.

Encounter with a tunnel spider, tiger, butterflies, beetles, a silk-worm and the other varieties of butterflies kept us spell bound.  Our guides pointed out the various trees, plants and other vegetation.

An enjoyable and enriching trip indeed.

Aati Kya Khandala

Primary Head Teacher Mrs. Fatima Monteiro  and teachers Ms. Lydia Vaz and Ms. Genevieve Ribeiro set off with their band of Nature Lovers for Khandala.  Antakshari, dancing and sharing of snacks kept up the spirits of the boys and teachers on their long bus journey.

St. Mary’s Villa, Khandala – our home away from home welcomed us.  Ice-breakers, tele – matches, a treasure hunt morning walks, nature trails, exercises in the open were some of our activities.

Diwali celebrations too – a bonfire, dancing, singing, fireworks and mithai.

Visits to the Vulvan Dam, Bushi Dam, Institute of the Blind, Sunset Point, Rajmachi Garden were all part of our programme.

Bird – watching, cricket and swimming were what we enjoyed too.

A visit to the nearby church and temple to pay our respect and thank God for a lovely trip.

We teachers were kept busy fussing over the kiddos, giving them T L C and tucking them up in bed.

Reluctant to return our kiddos wanted to stay for yet another day.  A Chikki stop and so – long – farewell – we embarked on our return journey to St. Xavier’s Mumbai.

Two people can't hate each other if they both love God.
