Nature Club Report (Secondary)

After the Diwali holidays the Nature Club began its activities with a bang for the academic year 2005 – 2006.

The first activity was a visit to the Nehru Science Centre on November 26th, 2006.  The officials of the Nehru Science centre delivered 3 lectures to our students on different subjects.  The 1st one was on “Fisheries in India and its Benefits”, followed by “Waste Management” which consisted of ways to make wealth from the waste, vermiculture and ways of managing wet garbage and the last was on “Ecology”.  All the three lectures were very informative and educative for our students.

The second activity was conducted on January 13, 2006 in the Stone Hall of our school.  This was a Kite & Mask Making Competition which was inaugurated by the Vice Principal Ms. Renee Carvalho, Kuldip teacher supervised the competition and also supplied the material to the student for making the kites and masks.

The competition was judged by teachers Ms. Rekha and Ms. Swati who also gave away the prizes.

The third activity was again a trip to Nehru Science Centre with 63 students on January 23rd, 2006.  The students were first taken to visit the “CENTURY OF PHYSICS” Exhibition, followed by educational film shows related to Geography and Science.  Live experiments were also performed by the NSC authorities.  They also taught us how to convert Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy.  Then we were taken to see many types of Old Vintage Cars and Bikes like Buick, Dodge, Desoto, Chevrolet, Ford, Rolls Royce which once belonged to the Shah of Nizam and a Sports Car.  In bikes we saw Norton, Harley Davidson & Ariel.  It was a very successful educative Nature Club trip

On February 17, 2006, 72 Nature Club students along with teachers Ms. Kuldip and Ms. Swati went for their 4th Activity to Ravindra Natya Mandir.  To see “Seeds of Change”, and exhibition for sustainable future.  Then they showed us a movie on nature, cutting trees and dumping the garbage.  It was a very educative one.

On February 21, 2006, the 5th and the last activity of Nature Club year was a visit to the Little Flower School to see the Wealth Out of Waste Exhibition.  The exhibition was very excellently organized by Sister Sodder the Principal of The Little Flower School, who gave a rousing welcome to us.  Incidentally Sister Sodder was one of our school teachers before becoming the Principal of this school.  The whole project was a very creative one and the items were made from the house hold throw away things.

The students actively participated in large numbers in all the activities.  Charts and Poster were also prepared and put up on the Nature Club Notice board.

Education is not received. It is achieved.
